Intro : How To Make The Scorpion Rocket-Powered Paper Airplane

The Scorpion paper airplane is an aircraft which can be launched with two rockets, or the the simple throw. Unlike its predecessor, the X5-1 Research Dart (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-The-Research-Dart-Paper-Airplane/ ), the Scorpion is able to be flown without rockets.

First Step : Materials

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper (A4)
Tape
Optional:
Pencil
 
 
 
 

Step 2 : X Folding And Cover Fold

Fold the paper's top to the sides. Then fold it over itself. Pull the paper down over itself so it is two separate layers.
 







 
 
 

Step 3 : Counterweight Fold

Take the outer tips of the top layer of the cover fold and pull them up to the front. Then unfold both and fold down the front weight.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Step 4 : Counterweight Fold

Take the outer tips of the top layer of the cover fold and pull them up to the front. Then unfold both and fold down the front weight.












Step 5 : Wing Folding

Fold the wings down from about 3/4 inch above the center line.




Step 6 : Winglet Folding

Fold your winglets up 3/4 of an inch from the wingtips. Repeat on the other side. After this is done, open the airfoil and fold it along the root of the winglet. Repeat on the other side.







Step 7 : Taping

You have reached the final stage of contstruction. Take the front and back together, then tape (inboard of) the nacelles to the airfoil.






Last Step : Flight

Your Scorpion is now complete. Put some rockets in its two nacelles, or just throw it. Enjoy!
