This is my first Instructable and English is not my native language, so please bear with me.

In this tutorial I will show you how to make a CapCanon (PET Bottle NERF compatible foam dart/water canon)
It is a quick and easy print, and your kids (or yourself) will have fun shooting darts or water.

I must also note, the finished canon does not shoot as well or far as an genuine NERF dart gun

Step 1: Gathering parts

Requirements:
  • 3D Printer (Use 3D Hubs for printing service if you don´t have one)
I used Orange ABS Filament for this tutorial.
  • Empty PET bottlePET bottle cap (We are going to use the rubber seal from inside the cap)
(The seal in this intructable is cut pre-instructable, but I am certain you will not have a problem with this)
  • Sharp blade or an utility knife
  • Small flat screwdriver
  • Foam dart(s) I used a NERF dart for this tutorial.

Step 2: Printing the CapCanon

First you have to print the CapCanon.
If you do not have a 3D printer at your disposal, you can use 3D Hubs to contract a print.

I printed the CapCanon in Orange ABS for this tutorial, as I think it needs more durability than PLA can provide.
It was printed at 50mm/s, at 0.100mm layer hight.
It is recommended that it is printed with support (Touching build plate in Cura)

Step 3: Seal

From the bottle cap, gently remove the rubber seal inside the cap with the small flat screwdriver.
Be careful not to damage the seal, as this will reduce the ability to build up pressure in the bottle.

Cut a small hole in center of the seal as pictured.
The hole should be as close to the size of the hole in the CapCanon as possible.

Then place it inside the CapCanon as pictured.

Step 4: Finish!

Screw the CapCanon onto the PET bottle and place your foam dart.
You have now completed the build!
You can also fill the PET bottle with water, to shoot both foam darts and water.
Safety: This is a small (loose) object and should therefore not be given to small children without supervision.
The CapCanon is made at your own risk, and the instructer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by either making or using this item.
Do not aim at eyes, and use the same guidelines as in NERF foam dart guns.

Enjoy your new CapCanon
